- You are convering such a wide variety of meaty topics, it would be better to schedule 2-3 days instead of a single day for this conference.
Response As this is the first year for the conference, we felt that it was best to ensure that we had a very complete and valuable day, and risk a little overload. We hope to extend the next conference with all the learnings from this event.
- In my experience, one thing that makes for poor sessions at conferences are physical arrangements that are not conducive to debate. For example: rooms that are too big for the amount of people in them, panelists sitting on a higher platform, as if imparting wisdom from above. I would suggest to try meeting in smaller rooms, with circle or concentric chair arrangements, and with panelists at the center (a bit more like town hall meetings for politicians). Also, we could make use of whiteboards or big paper sheets.
- Will there be wifi at the conference?
- One way in which to maximize what each participant gets out of an event is to have a 'meeting broker' or 'host'. When you come in (or prior to the conference), each participant outlines to the broker a kind of person they would like to meet. Then the broker can help make connections happen. E.g. I may want to talk to people who work for a telco in product management, or I may want to talk to an expert in SIP security....
- How about creating a LinkedIn for Groups for Voice 2.0 folks and then inviting into the group all those who attend.
